Diamond in the Rough
When we listed this quaint home in east Hamilton last winter we hoped that it would be purchased by someone with vision, someone with the ability to see that the layout and spaciousness of this solid home, with some updating, could have a truly modern feel.
Our hopes were realized when a young woman, with the help of her family, decided to do some updating.
The entire house was stripped of wallpaper painted in neutral tones and outfitted with lovely hardwood floors and new light fixtures.
The new kitchen, enlarged main bathroom, new powder room on the main level and dedicated laundry space on the main floor were the most notable changes.
The updated cabinetry and additional cupboard and counter space along with hardwood flooring has transformed this kitchen. The large kitchen had enough space on the end wall which was a perfect spot to install a new main floor powder room and laundry space. When this house was built those two modern day conveniences were never included in a house plan.
The main bathroom was small and had a sloping ceiling. The slope did not allow for the bathtub to have a shower attachment. Since the bedrooms of this home were also quite spacious the new owner was able to enlarge the bathroom by taking a sliver of the adjacent bedroom for a new bathtub and shower.
Check out the before and after picks for this amazing transformation!
